Braves’ Dinner and Auction set for April 18
Fulps to be Honored
The annual Benefit Dinner and Auction supporting athletics at Reedsport schools will be held Saturday, April 18 at the Reedsport Community Center. The event is presented by the non-profit Braves Boosters Association.
During the event, the contributions of Lynn Fulps, long-time educator and coach, will be recognized. “Lynn has impacted many young lives during his years of service to Reedsport schools. We invite his former students and athletes to help us recognize his contributions,” says Robert Huebner, Master of Ceremonies for
the event, a Boosters’ Board member, and 1975 Reedsport graduate.
This is the fourteenth year for the event, which has turned into a school-wide reunion for many attendees, bringing together local residents as well as alumni who now live outside the area. It is also the centerpiece of continual fundraising activities conducted by the Braves Boosters, to help maintain athletic programs at
Stressing the financial importance of the event, current Boosters’ Board chairperson Joe Zelinski notes, “Most of our school athletic programs simply would not exist without the funds generated from this single event each year.” Zelinski added, “The financial crunch faced by our schools will not end anytime soon, and once again, we will be relying on the generosity of this amazing community of families, friends and alumni to help ease the funding gap.”
Net proceeds of the event benefit the Boosters’ Athletics Endowment Fund. In the current school year alone, nearly $15,000 of this fund has been used to supplement the Reedsport School District’s athletic programs.
Through March 31, dinner tickets are $25 per plate, which includes bidding privileges. Starting April 1, the price rises to $30 per plate. Tickets are available at Bedrock’s Restaurants, at Reedsport Community Charter School, or via mail. More information, ticket order and item donation forms are available at the event website:
Past auction events have included a wide range of items donated by individuals and businesses. The evening also includes non-auction raffles, games and directpurchase opportunities. “Our format is unique. It’s much more than an auction,” Zelinski says. “Anyone can come and have a great time, and go home with a really nice item, without spending a lot of money.” He added, “We’ve always
strived to make this event as much about community as it is about fundraising.”
