Grand Opening Offering Multiple Events

The new owners of the Reedsport Natural Foods store in Reedsport are offering multiple events during their Grand Opening – Open House on Monday, May 25, 2015 between 10 am and 3 pm. The Grand Opening is also being supported by Coastal Douglas Arts & Business Alliance (CDABA), who will be sponsoring an artist showcase during the event.

Owners, Stephanie Riordan and Karen Hladky, have been experiencing a soft opening of the store by making it open to the public since March 4, 2015. The Grand Opening – Open House event is being held to mark the official opening of the store and inviting the public to come meet the owners, some of its product vendors, and taste some of the food offerings it has to share. Plan to join the owners at the Reedsport Natural Foods store, 1891 Winchester Avenue (Hwy 101), Reedsport, OR 97467, to learn more about them and the store.

Owner, manager Stephanie said that she is hoping the Grand Opening will allow her “to meet community members, local residents, and to expose the store and [herself] to the community.” Reedsport Natural Foods is more than its name may imply. It carries food products and supplements as can be expected, but it is also a Deli, Coffee Shop, and Bakery. It even has some gift items for sale. Stephanie described it as a “Café with a little bit of everything.” She commented that “it is not a full bakery”, but that it does have “other food items as well, such a paninis.”

Here’s the schedule for the special events:

11:00-11:30 – Meet and Greet with Owners, Stephanie and Karen.
11:30-12:00 – Meet the local owners of Blue Nile products. Tracie and Tareck will be on hand to conduct a sampling of their products, Authentic Humus, Mediterranean Tzatziki, Kyrose Olives, and Sahara Dates.
12:00-12:30 – Meet the Reedsport Winchester Bay Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors and participate in the ribbon cutting ceremony at 12:15 pm.
12:30-1:00 – Meet local musician Sean Grubb, who will be playing soft music while you mingle.
1:00-1:30 – Meet local jewelry artist Kathy Moon, who will be displaying her handmade jewelry items.
1:30 – 3:00 – Continue mingling with the owners and enjoying the bite size samples of the bakery and food items they plan to share.

When talking with Stephanie you will learn that “managing the Reedsport Natural Foods store is a new adventure” for her and she is happy to lean on her Mother, Karen Hladky’s, experience of owning and operating Bailey’s Health Food Center in North Bend, Oregon. Stephanie amused herself when she talked about the fact that now that she is 40, she “is really listening to [her] parents’ advice” and went onto say “they really know what they’re talking about.”

Stephanie and Karen both intend to incorporate healthy eating in both the store and the deli. Over time they plan to “prepare even healthier foods” in the bakery and deli. Stephanie commented that “future plans could even include classes on healthier eating, possibly cooking classes.”

Stephanie would like to see the store become a “safe environment where anyone who comes in will feel comfortable enough to ask and learn new things” and she “expects to learn from customers as well.” Knowing that not all things work the same way for every person, Stephanie wants to encourage “customers to come tell [her] what works for them and what they’ve learned about supplements.” She also commented that “Kathy Moon and other healthcare providers have reached out to her” and have “requested that she carry certain products that they often recommend to their patients.”

Additional plans for the Reedsport Natural Foods store Grand Opening – Open House are also in the works. Plan to spend part of your Memorial Day holiday at the store with the owners. Be sure to bring your questions and stories as well.

  1. It is so exciting to see this! I have been happy to find products we need. Reedsport really needed a place like this. We will definitely go by on the 25th to get some groceries and see what is going on.
